How did you get started with your business?
Prior to the formation of my business, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After college my first job was creating custom bridal gowns and special occasion attire along with one-on-one retail sales at a local boutique. I made the decision to stay home after the birth of my daughter after many years of commuting to New York working in the fashion industry. Being home sparked a need for a new creative outlet. My love for bridal fashion and illustration seemed like a natural fit. At the time Etsy was a fairly new idea for a handmade business owner like myself and the rest is history.
What’s the process like for someone interested in your services?
I illustrate from my home studio in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Clients provide me photographs which highlight the details of their attire and accessories. And I never ignore a custom request. If your car or pet is important to you I will do my best to incorporate those items. I hand illustrate every detail with pen and ink, watercolour and colored pencil techniques on large format (11 x 14) heavy weight Bristol paper. Illustrations are then packaged in lovely presentation folders and shipped out worldwide.
What’s your favorite part about your business?
My favorite part about my job is interacting with such a varied group of people. Only a small portion of my clientele are brides. I often work with bridesmaids, mothers, friends and family members. My favorite clients are husbands looking for anniversary presents. They are very appreciative for finding such a unique and thoughtful gift.
