Behind the inspo: We couldn’t resist pairing the trust involved in a Quaich ceremony from Scotland with the beauty, fertility, and symbolism of figs in this lush summer solstice styled shoot. Summer solstice traditions around the world embrace the fig as a symbol of fertility and love. In Greece, women partake in the ritual of Klidonas, where women leave personal belongings at the base of a fig tree. As midsummer arrives, its magic envelops the belonging and the single women dream of their future husbands. Like the fig trees in Greece, the tree-lined drive of The Farm Bakery and Events in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was the perfect place to begin a journey celebrating the finding of love.

The still images, captured by Mark C. Morris Photography, and video, by Schoenfilms, followed intimate preparations culminating in a ceremony inspired by traditions of finding and then pledging love in another part of the world- Scotland. Donna Forsythe, owner of Lehigh Valley Celebrants, led the bride and groom, dressed by Stephanie’s Bridal in Pennsburg, PA, through a wine ceremony, where the couple tucked away wishes for each other in a beautiful antique box to be opened on their anniversary. Following this ceremony, the couple participated in a Quaich ceremony, where they used a traditional two-handled cup to display trust and commitment. As they toasted the permanent blending of their two families by blending Scotch brought directly from Scotland for the shoot, they were accompanied by harpist Felicity Bell of Felicitious Music, LLC.

Fig-inspired details included an invitation suite from Alisa Wismer Design, vow books by Wild Confetti Workshop, a cake provided by The Farm Bakery, and marble finishing of the ceremony table by The Funky Finishes. The bride and her bridesmaid’s custom tanning and nail services were provided by Beauty By Jacquelynn of Horsham, PA, and hair and makeup services by Lauren’s Makeup Designs echoed the lush theme. Rentals provided by the Party Center of Phoenixville, PA, elevated the experience, while breathtakingly beautiful florals by Bucks County Nursery and Florist brought the natural bounty of midsummer to life.
