Zac and John’s Alternative Luxe Wedding at Franklin’s View
There’s nothing we love more than unique details and personal style when it comes to the aesthetic of a wedding day. And Zac and John’s wedding is no different. Seamlessly combining a mix of alternative style and decor within the luxury setting of Franklin’s View, inside the bustling city of Philadelphia.
How They Met: Zac and John first met on Grindr back in 2013 shortly after Zac returned home after 4 years of attending The University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The two hit it off instantly and actually made the decision to move in together just two month into dating. Eventually they bought a home in East Falls, but marriage wasn’t on their minds at the time.
The Engagement: “We had never planned to get married (it wasn’t even legal when we started dating). While I would have happily married him, Zac didn’t believe it was necessary to show our love to each other. So it was a complete surprise to me when we once again went to Reading Terminal Market’s annual Party For The Market event on February 22, 2020. Zac got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of several of our friends. Event staff found out about our engagement and gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate!” –John
The Wedding Day: The couple wanted a space that was unique and fun. When they learned that Cescaphe at the time, had partnered with Franklin’s Square to host weddings during the pandemic, Z+J knew they had found the perfect spot. The wedding day just so happened to be the same day Taylor Swift’s tour was in town which made traveling the city a little hectic but Z+J had refreshments ready to go as guests made their way in to the ceremony.
Zac and John were walked down the aisle by their parents to a slower version of I2I (pronounced eye to eye) from the ’95 Disney film, A Goofy Movie. While Zac’s sister Allie officiated.
Guests were treated to fresh shucked oysters on site during cocktail hour and multiple gourmet food stations including a cheese board and sushi. They later were able to enjoy the venue’s mini golf course and carousel!
The newlyweds shared their first dance to I Will Follow Him from the movie Sister Act and just as the song picks up halfway through, they invited their whole bridal party out to the dance floor to finish the song all together.
“While not everything went completely the way we planned, it ended up being the perfect wedding for us. As a couple who loves to have people over for a party, we saw this as our chance to throw the biggest and best party of our lives. And with the amount of people who told us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to, I would say we succeeded!” -John
